SELFIE SUNDAY. It has pockets!

I’d had the fabric and idea for a year but didn’t have the chance to put two days of work into it until after spring classes let out. Did a bunch of stuff for the first time with this!: installed a zipper proper instead of cacking my way through it; used fusible interfacing, wow; drafted a pattern from scratch with muslin mockups and everything; sewed garment lining.

I’m wearing two petticoats (their combined construction time probably equals the construction time for this dress because yards and yards of material), and the skirt is really big! Absurdly! I brush both sides of a door frame when walking through.

Things to do next time: Use fusible on the bodice, fake-serge all interior seams before sewing so they look as pretty as the outside, have more confidence in my patterns when cutting them so I don’t add an extra two inches of seam allowance to faff through later.

Janice is good at things.

OH MY GOD JANICE AWESOME

Graffiti Artist L7M Creates Amazing Birds

Brazilian artist L7M is the one behind these beautiful murals that seem to transcend beyond the negatively looked upon art of graffiti. His murals on birds are astounding; the deep, stark lines representing speed and elegance, eyes that glisten in the sun, and colors that scream at onlookers, all to create a master piece devoted to beauty. Even his signature eludes from stereotypical graffiti artist, with a minimalistic “7″ asserting his claim of this wall space. (viaStreet Art Utopia)
